One of the things I was doing prior to having to restart my entire life was making items to take to the local market that happens every Thursday night. Given that Halloween was coming up I had decided to try and make a bunch of these little lantern boxes to resemble jack-o-lanterns and a few other ones. I ended up making some Western styled ones and if I can find the pics of them, some Christmas themed ones.
All of these were made with pallet wood and I used little LED tealights that I picked up from Dollar Tree which lit them up surprisingly well. I cut out the holes in them using my little CNC from Vevor and all in all it took about 30-45 minutes to completely assemble each one. They all got a quick sanding, some filing to tighten up the edges of the cutouts and roll to the edges so there wasn’t anything sharp to get cut on. After that it was a matter of painting them orange and attaching a scrap piece of wood shaped into a stem on top, to create the leaves I just untwisted some green jute stuff I picked up at the Dollar Tree as well. So here’s some pics of the lanterns, if I get a chance I will try to make another post and share my files so you can try to make them yourself. You don’t have to have a CNC and you can do the cutouts with a scroll saw.
